Joan is a Photographer, Graphic Designer and mixed-media Artist.  She works independently in a Studio of her own design, with high views of the trees and land.  It’s an electic space that inspires and delights both the Artist and her visitors.  Her special photographic interests include making art in nature and photographing the process/result, large and small scale spirals, Mandalas (which she creates digitally from her own original images), and the ongoing pursuit of creating compelling, moving and memorable images from her travels.

In pursuit of Ancestral stories and connections, she has been transversing The United States and Canada in a lovingly restored 1992 Camper Van.  This has lead to fantastic revelations about the past of her family, as well as deep healing and awareness of the gifts that have passed down to her and their descendants.

Other creative passions include beading, leather work and pen and ink drawings which incorporate elements of sacred geometry, archaic symbols and fanciful realms of the unknown.

She attended the School of Public Communication at Boston University before leaving to attend the New England School of Photography while working at Underground Camera in Boston and Cambridge. She also obtained Medical Photography Certification from Boston’s Beth Israel Hospital and worked at Dana Farber and Children’s Hospital as both photographer and graphic artist for Medical/Research Staff and PR departments.

Her career continued as she began her family and worked for several years as a stringer for The TAB and Metrowest newspapers, and used her talents to  benefit many community organizations, including numerous parent and teacher, school, local news and special events. For several years she served on the Board of Directors of a her local community theather, stewarding their promotional materials, photography, theater publications and website, and served as their President for two years of her 7 year tenure. In 2008, she acheived certification in Graphic and Web Design from Boston University CDIA (Center for Digital Arts)

Joan’s goal is to create art that will resonate with people in delightful ways.  It’s deeply satisfying  to provide artful pieces that kindred spirits wish to live with, and imagery which might serve as inspiration and delight in many different interior and exterior spaces.

Mandalas are particularly lovely pieces to place in a home or office, as they aide in providing a sense of peace and order as well stimulatiion, both visually and energetically.  Pieces may be customized to your color/space/size needs, easily.  Please contact the Studio with any questions you may have regarding photo work on site, in the studio, or in selecting/creating a beautiful piece of art which will forever delight and please!
